The largest trade union in Finland – here’s what we do

The Industrial Union is Finland’s largest trade union with roughly 200,000 members. Our members work in 33 different collective agreement sectors.

We promote the rights and well-being of workers. We secure fair terms of employment for all workers in our collective agreement sectors. We negotiate wages, working hours, holidays and many other terms of the employment relationship. We also defend our members in disputes.

Our activities are based on fraternity, solidarity, equality and defending the weak. Our bargaining power comes from the workers in our collective agreement sectors who choose to join us. Together, we can achieve things none of us could do alone.

In the workplace, our members are represented by capable shop stewards and occupational safety representatives. They protect workers’ interests, negotiate on their behalf and act as communicators and mediators between them and their employers. In addition to security in working life, we offer our members many valuable membership benefits in return for their membership subscription.

Let’s create better jobs in Finland! A better working life can only be created through better collective agreements.
