Members of the Finnish Industrial Union enjoy a wide range of union benefits, including guidance and training, settling disputes with employers, legal aid, as well as recreational and holiday activities, travel insurance and discounts for various services and commodities.
A shop steward protects your interests at work
A shop steward represents employees at work. He or she acts as a negotiator, conciliator, mediator and information broker between employees and the employer. A shop steward helps in all matters related to the employment relationship and always acts confidentially.
If there is no shop steward at the workplace, organized employees, together with their trade union, can organize elections at any time.
Members have access to legal aid
Disagreements arising in the employment relationship are always resolved primarily through negotiation. Legal aid is only used as a last resort when, for one reason or another, the matter cannot be resolved in any other way, for example through local negotiations or with the assistance of the union’s experts.
According to the rules of the Industrial Confederation of Finland, a member may receive assistance from the union in handling legal matters that have arisen in employment matters or from the member’s activities in the union and trade union. Legal aid may also be obtained in compensation cases for work-related accidents and occupational diseases.
Training activities by the Industrial Union
The Study Leave Act guarantees all members the right to train during working hours. The Union reimburses course fees for approved students, including teaching, full boarding and course materials.

Turva will keep Industrial Union members safe
The Industrial Union has insured you with the Turva member insurance policies.
The leisure time travel insurance covers the union members as well as under 20-year-old children travelling with them. The term children refers to the insured person’s own children or grandchildren, the children of the insured’s spouse and any children living in the same household as the insured. The insurance is valid for leisure trips made to abroad or in Finland. Retired free members and members on disability pension are only insured for travel abroad.

Discounts at the Imatra spa
Industrial Union members receive a discount from regular prices at Imatra spa from the hotel and cabins as well as half board or full-board meals reserved with lodging. The discount is 20 percent on weekdays (from Sunday to Thursday) and ten percent on weekends (from Friday to Saturday). All hotel and cabin prices always include breakfast and access to the Taikametsä spa.
