Get to know your member benefits!
As a student member, you have access to nearly all the same benefits as regular members. Plenty of events and activities are organised for student members in your own region. Keep an eye on our newsletters to stay up to date.
You may also need representation and support during your studies. When you start a summer job or work placement, you might come across problems in working life. In those situations, your shop steward can help you right away.
Student membership is free of charge. As soon as you start a paid job, remember to join the Industrial Union as a regular member. You’ll then have access to the union’s extensive advisory and support services. You can also join the A-kassa unemployment fund and start accumulating the work history requirement for unemployment security, so that you can later qualify for earnings-related unemployment benefits, which require both employment and the payment of membership fees.
The Industrial Union works to secure better working conditions and terms of employment for you. The terms we negotiate include, among others, pay, working hours, holidays, days off and occupational safety. No one else but a trade union does this kind of advocacy work.
