This training does not go through the basics
of working life but aims to deepen and expand
the student’s knowledge of working life matters
and examine current trade union issues.
This course introduces you to how political decisions are made in Finland and how people can take part in society — from trade union activities to national politics. In Finland, trade unions and employer organizations negotiate collective agreements that define the terms and conditions for work, but political decisions also affect working life.
During the course, you will learn how the Finnish political system works and how laws are created or changed in the Parliament. You will explore how politics has influenced labour law in the past and how it has evolved during the current government’s term. You will also gain insight into how laws affecting foreigners have recently changed and what further developments may lie ahead. We will also talk about how everyone living in Finland can have a voice: how you can influence your own working conditions and support fairness and justice at work.
The goal of this course is to help you understand your rights and how to take part in building a fair working life in Finland.
